Rev. Thích Tâm Trí was born in Vietnam and ordained as a Buddhist monk during her childhood. Later, she completed a doctoral course in Buddhist studies at a Japanese graduate school and underwent training at a Jodo sect temple. Deeply concerned with the hardships faced by many Vietnamese living in Japan, she has devoted herself to alleviating their plight both materially and spiritually. For the Vietnamese community in Japan, Rev. Tâm Trí and her activities are a beacon of hope and a source of physical and spiritual strength. The Daion Temple she established in Saitama Prefecture is now widely known as a refuge for Vietnamese migrant workers coping with adversity and has earned the moniker “Temple of sanctuary for the Vietnamese in Japan.”
